Effects
Propolis has long been used in folk medicine but is now also used in orthodox medicine as its invaluable therapeutic qualities have been widely recognised. Propolis in oil solution is recommended to children and people who don’t tolerate alcohol. With children, it is used in the treatment of soft mouth tissue, gum lesions, diminishing pain locally and healing of wounds that result from tooth extraction. Adults may use propolis for vascular treatment, asthma, gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis and various mouth and throat inflammations. Both children and adults may use it successfully for the treatment of various skin diseases such as burns, different types of eczema, warts and haemorrhoids and also for stimulating tissue regeneration.
Consumption
Recommended daily dose for children is no more than 10–15 drops a day in a glass of lukewarm water, tea or milk, or on a sugar cube. Twenty drops, three times a day for adults.
